Boswellia serrata grows wild in the dry deciduous forests of Rajasthan, India. The resin is hand-collected by tapping the bark, a process that does not harm the tree, and steam-distilled on-site. This species is distinct from Boswellia carterii (Somali frankincense) in its higher alpha-pinene content, which gives it a sharper, more resinous character and stronger anti-inflammatory activity. Our current batch tests at 38.4% alpha-pinene and 6.3% incensole acetate, the compound associated with the oil's grounding and neuroprotective properties. The GC/MS report for this batch is available to download on this page.
